Environmental Programs

Project Bokashi Deley is an I AM S.A.M. Foundation community-based environmental and youth leadership initiative created to help rehabilitate polluted bodies of water, beginning with Jamboree Lake in Muntinlupa City. The project used Bokashi Balls—mud balls made with soil, molasses, water, Bokashi bran, and effective microorganisms—to support wastewater treatment and improve water quality.

More than a clean-up activity, Project Bokashi Deley was designed as a unification and educational movement, bringing together students, schools, local government, environmental advocates, and volunteers in the spirit of Bayanihan. Its goals included sustaining water quality, protecting marine life, encouraging livelihood opportunities, and helping communities reconnect with nature in a safe and clean environment.

The word “Deley” comes from Tashi Deley, the I AM S.A.M. Foundation’s adopted greeting, meaning “I honor the greatness in you.” Through this project, the Foundation honored the greatness of young people and communities willing to protect the planet, reduce poverty, and work together for peace, prosperity, and sustainable development.

Project Bokashi Deley was recognized as a Most Outstanding Project in Sustainable Development by the US Embassy in December 2019, reflecting I AM S.A.M.’s commitment to turning awareness into action and empowering youth to become solution-makers for the world they will inherit.

RevAMP

The Revitalized Algae Microfarm Project (RevAMP) led by Metrobank Teacher Awardees Teacher Ma. Regaele Olarte and Sir Jason Albaro, is an award-winning environmental innovation that transforms science education into meaningful climate action. Recognized internationally, RevAMP won the prestigious Zayed Sustainability Prize in 2019 for its impactful contribution to sustainability and environmental education.

Designed to improve air quality and promote ecological awareness, RevAMP utilizes algae microfarms as a practical and scientific solution for carbon absorption and environmental sustainability. Beyond its environmental purpose, the project empowers students through hands-on STEM learning, research, innovation, and community engagement, helping learners become active contributors to environmental protection.

The project’s influence expanded further through the support of the I AM S.A.M. Foundation, which adopted RevAMP and helped establish a collaborative Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) among Department of Education NCR and Department of Science and Technology NCR for product research and development, with the support of former DOST Secretary Fortunato de la Peña.

RevAMP also contributed to the global recognition of Muntinlupa National High School, where the project was developed, helping the school earn a place among the Top Three World’s Best Schools for Environmental Action. Today, RevAMP stands as a powerful example of how education, science, sustainability, and community collaboration can work together to create lasting environmental and social impact.
